Q & A

  • Tell us about your car.
It started out as a 1986 325, and is a carry-over project from an almost identical E30 I’d had since 1998. It has a built S50 engine that has 251whp. The suspension, drivetrain, and interior are all heavily modified for the track. It’s an old car, but it presents exceptionally well.
  • How did you become interested in BMWs?
When I was little, both of my parents had matching E21s with each other’s initials on the license plates…It was kind of disgusting. My dad drove his until it had earned the nickname “Rusty”. After I drove my first car for a couple of years, I needed something a little more fun. I narrowed my choice down to two cars: a BMW 325es and a Toyota Paseo. After driving the BMW, I was hooked!
  • What BMWs have you owned?
    I’ve owned three: white/cardinal red 1986 325es 5-speed, silver/black 2003 540i M-Sport 6-speed, and now my current E30.
  • What is your dream BMW?
That’s a really tough question. I have this weird desire to build something just silly, like an E39 or E60 M5…stripped out, caged, and built for the track.
  • What kinds of car-related events do you enjoy most?
I definitely enjoy HPDEs the most…because racecar.
